Altium presents 'System-on-FPGA' webcast

SYDNEY, Australia – July 12, 2004 – Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), a leading developer of Windows-based electronics design software, today announced that it has produced an on-demand technical webcast that discusses a unique approach to systems-level design, and which is now available for viewing.

Led by Nancy Eastman, president of Altium Inc., the webcast discusses using low-cost, high-performance FPGAs as a production platform for processor-based system design, and highlights the significant productivity-enhancing benefits these devices offer to mainstream electronics engineers. The webcast also features a live demonstration of Nexar, the only complete, FPGA vendor- and device-independent tool available that offers designers the ability to build complete embedded systems on FPGAs with the same ease as creating a discrete system on a PCB. The webcast also gives viewers the chance to see “LiveDesign” – Altium's new interactive, real-time design and debug methodology – in action.

There is no question, the next wave of change is going to be the 'system-on-FPGA revolution',” said Nick Martin, Joint CEO and Founder, Altium. “As the price/density threshold continues to drop, the resulting time-to-market advantages and cost savings will make 'systems-on-FPGAs' too compelling to ignore.

Martin continued: “It is my personal belief that the key to unlocking the potential of this vast new market is the ability to provide mainstream engineers with tools that are 'FPGA-ready'. This is particularly important for board-level designers as they will increasingly need to come to terms with putting more of their circuitry on a 'programmable platform'. Altium intends to fully support this.”

Availability
The on-demand webcast is available for viewing on Altium's website. Go to www.altium.com/nexar and click on "Nexar Goes Live" to start viewing. The webcast lasts for 45 minutes and there is no charge or pre-registration process required for viewing.
